Award-winning actor Gil Birmingham is known for his work in more than 50 film and television productions. Most recently Birmingham co-starred alongside Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges in Taylor Sheridan’s critically acclaimed film Hell or High Water. Gil’s powerful performance in Hell or High Water continues to be singled out and highlighted by notable film reviewers, and the film itself was among the nominees for Best Picture in the 2017 Academy Awards. Gil and Taylor recently reunited for Wind River, a feature film written and directed by Sheridan and slated for a summer 2017 release.
Birmingham generated public acclaim for his portrayal of Billy Black in the blockbuster films Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, based on the best-selling book series by Stephanie Meyer. He co-starred in the film The Love Ranch (2010) with Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci, and voiced Wounded Bird in the Oscar-winning film Rango (2011) with Johnny Depp. Additional film credits include Shouting Secrets, End of the Spear, Dreamkeeper, Gentle Ben, The Doe Boy, Love’s Long Journey, Te Ata, Crooked Arrows, and The Lone Ranger alongside Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. On television, Gil’s powerful portrayal of Dogstar in Steven Spielberg’s six-part miniseries, Into the West, captured the attention of audiences worldwide. Gil has guest-starred in several episodes of Wilfred alongside Elijah Wood, and can be seen on The Lying Game and Veronica Mars. He was a recurring guest star in Banshee, House of Cards, and currently recurs in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, playing Jane Krawkowski’s father. In addition, Gil is set to recur on the coming season of TNT’s Animal Kingdom and the upcoming series Siren.
